Hi,
I just got a call from Jason about some of the big projects we are doing this week at Pahinets. There is a big plan he is discussing with Lyubov, the head of the Ukrainian-American Birth Defects Program at the Omni Center concerning funding of positions they need at the center. I will let you know the details of the project as soon as Jason finishes his meetings with the administrators.
Jason is pleased the Care and Repair Team is beginning to work on the ramp for the Pahinets Center to make it handicapped accessible. He also talked about two rooms that will be renovated with donations from USNOF. One is a room to do therapy with children with cerebral palsy and all the therapy equipment and special railing that is needed. The other room is a room for parent education and support training for advocacy. He is looking at these rooms without ceilings and floors at this point.
He reports that the director of the Children’s Home delayed the VBS team for awhile this morning while she went to the bank, but they regrouped upon her return and everything went well. Zhenya, our project manager for USNOF, knows all the directors and can help them understand the space and room issues we have for working with groups of children. There are always delays on the first day. The VBS group has had lunch at their pizza restaurant they will visit every lunchtime this week and are now at the Intake Facility for the second VBS, which is a favorite place for the groups that have gone before.
Things went smoothly for the beginning of the Pahinets Camp for children with special needs and the parent conference. I hope to get more details tonight. I’ll send/post updates as I get them. You do the same! -Karen
