Friday in Kiev

Hello everyone,
 
Our friends and family have had a smooth trip so far.  They have landed, lost ZERO bags (which might be a first!), settled into their hotel rooms, had naps (some),  a lovely dinner with their Ukrainian friends, and gone to bed for the night.
 
Tomorrow they will do some sightseeing, rendezvous with the two remaining members of the expedition (who are flying tonight), and head off for the 5 hour bus trip to Rivne.  I will send a message tomorrow when I hear they are safely at the hotel in Rivne.  I do not know when they will make it to the internet cafe, but when they do, they will be encouraged to post messages on the blog: http://usnof.wordpress.com/. 
 

I will try to cross-post between emails, the blog, and the usnof facebook page, but updates will generally appear on the blog first. The blog has an RSS Feed (if you know what that means, if not, just visit the blog site once in a while).  The Blog is a new idea we are trying out instead of using email “reply all”, since our list is so large. 
 
Please pray for safe travels to Rivne tomorrow.

Kyiv(Kiev) & Schedule for the week

According to Air France, the group arrived in Kiev around 12 noon Ukraine time.  They will gather at the hotel restaurant for dinner tonight to get acquainted and see old friends who have interpreted for them in the past and meet some new ones who will be interpreting for them this year.

Schedule for the week:

 

Thursday

Everyone at airport by 2:00pm

Friday

Arrive 11:30, stay in Kyiv at Bratislava

Saturday

Shop for souvenirs until 12:30, pick up 2nd flight, bus ride to Rivne, Hotel Tourist

Sunday

Teams prepare for the week

Monday – Thursday

Bus leaves at 8:00am, VBS at Children’s Home, lunch 11:30, VBS at Intake in afternoon – bus pickup Pahinets 4:00 and Intake 4:30

Friday

VBS to Intake, Pahinets team to tour orphanages, afternoon shopping in Rivne, STAYING in Rivne for the night

Saturday

Bus leaves 8:30 for Kyiv – early dinner and sightseeing in Kyiv, concert(s) at night

Sunday

Flight home  - arriving at Dulles  6:55pm:  it will take an hour to get through customs and then we can go home and sleep for a few days
